It’s been quite a while since my last blog post and I apologize for that. After Valentine’s day I got really sick for a few weeks and it went downhill from there. I’m finally feeling myself again and got back into the swing of things. Expect some artwork posts soon. Yes, really! Today, I wanted to talk about some rules in the fashion world.
I’ve heard black and blue don’t look well together. I’ve even read a few fashion articles mentioning it’s a fashion faux pas or just something everyone knows not to do. I think that’s silly. I’m not being biased just because my closet happens to be mostly black and blue (Not sure why since blue isn’t even my favorite color). It’s just interesting to me why magazines insist that some colors should be worn certain times of the year, that you shouldn’t wear certain styles of clothing anymore, or that you need to wear something a certain way to be stylish. I think that takes away individuality from what you wear.
To me, fashion is a form of expression and what you wear can show a part of you. There’s nothing wrong with wearing pastels and bright colors in the spring because a magazine recommended it, but there’s also nothing wrong wearing it in the winter when darker colors are in. It’s not harming anyone. Wear what you think looks good even if it’s disregarding the current style, “fashion rules,” or trends. If someone tells you an outfit you feel confident in looks bad because it’s not ideal to them, just remember you’re not here to make them happy with your clothing choice. That’s just their opinion. What you wear is something you’re doing for yourself.
Is there a style or outfit you love that breaks the “rules”?
I hope you have a great week!
Btw my husband thinks these boots are hideous, but that’s not going to stop me because I love them lol.
